My first BJD have arrived!

I'm so happy that after lot of patience and work, I finally have my first BJD. Without further ado, here is the photo spam of the Mirodoll BJD box opening, p.s: please aware that there is some doll nudity :)

Mirodoll BJD Box

Actually, my family already opened this before I get to take photo of everything so that's explained why only the green box that left. Oh well, as long as I still have my doll, I'm okay with it.
The famous Mirodoll green box, with a magnet that not too strong to hold the box, but still nice enough.

A nice green pillow bag, to protect the doll from rough customs and delivery. Quite fluffy and I think I can reuse it again by using it to brig my doll for travel or maybe  for my doll furniture like sofa, bed, etc. Great quality material too.

Now here is the long waited BJD body. I have to say this body is gorgeous, like it A LOT :P
Most people say that Mirodoll sculpts is quite athletic type and by seeing her leg, I agree with them. Also the hand sculpt is so nice and slender. No wonder they make an extra glove as it feel so fragile.
It seems like I'm not wrong to buy the small chest one since I feel the usual one is too big. But then, I also afraid that the small one is too small. I have to say rather than small, this can be called medium, though I don't have other BJD to compare.

Even though I ordered the NS (normal skin) tone, it was more whiter than I thought but actually, I prefer this tone more. Lucky that I don't order the white one since I hear that their WS is almost paper white.

My Obitsu WS head is almost an exact match for Mirodoll NS, but Mirodoll is still more whiter than my Obitsu. I hope thast soft pastel will solve this little mismatch skin color.
I think that her string is a bit too thigh as her leg really like to bend and she can't stand by herself. I have to learn how to restringing later

Rough edge with some discolorations

The only problem there are quite rough scratch and marks in some parts of the body. This can be solved with sanding though. Also there is some discolorations in some of the edges. I'm sorry for not being not the best photograph as this photo only caught the discolorations rather than the rough edges. There is also discolorations in the seams lines.

But for a SD body under $100, I think Mirodoll has done more than enough. No broken parts, great quality, nice customer service (I have contacted Mirodoll several times before buying this doll and they are quite nice for company service). I will buy from this company again if I ever decided to have more than one BJD or to give someone as gift.

Now all my doll project is going to start as soon as possible (New Year's event will get me busy for sure) and hope this doll can finished before the end of my long holiday :)
Happy New Year 2014
Hope everyone including me can get the best in 2014!

How to choose your first BJD

Maybe now you're interested in having one, but don't know where to start, there is so many choice and company. Well, here is some steps that may help you in narrowing your choice and please consider the fact BJD is expensive. Not only that, their clothes, accecories is expensive. BJD size also matter, the bigger the doll, more money come out from your wallet.

So prepare lot of money, not too mention if you want to buy limited one (it will be freaking expensive especially in second-hand market)
If you finally made your mind, then choose one to buy :)

1. Preferences for your first BJD
What do you want? A girl or boy doll? A mature or teen one? What is going to be their personality, cheerful or calm? By making your choice, you can find some sculpt that right for you. Or maybe, if you're confused to choose which one, you can see other owner's photo of the doll. That why, you can see the potential of the sculpt and see if you like it.

2. Budget for your first BJD
Let say your budget for doll in not unlimited, you can narrow the choices. But still, don't go for a cheaper option if you don't like it, better save up some more. I have know some newcomer buying cheap doll and in the end, they let the hobby because they feel the doll doesn't lift up their expectations.. And don't get scammed if the price is too good to be true. Read the seller feedback first, it will save your money a lot.

3. Paypal for online shopping
Well, if you're in a country or town where there is no BJD shop like me, the only option left is shopping online which require Paypal as payment method. If you don't have one, you can make it and if you don't want to make it, you can use some people service that willing to help you with paypal payment. Just be careful not getting scammed.

4.  Face up for your BJD
BJD company can offer face up for BJD with extra charge (some event can make it free). You may thought that making a face up by yourself will  be cheaper. If you think like that, then you're wrong. Why? Cause the supplies is more than you think and if you are buying some cheap face-up supplies, you can make your expensive doll damaged heavily.
You like it when your cheap supplies ruin your $$$ BJD? At least, I'm not.

Now, you can browse some lovely BJD out there to find which going to be your first BJD. With patience, you will find something that suit your liking. And to clear up the ace supplies, I will talk about it in more detailed version in the next post, so you will know how face-up going to work :)

I know its late but Merry Christmas everyone!  Hope you all can get your long awaited gift in this month!
